Amazing business spaces

by Catherine Muir Interior Design

...business spaces that feel good and work beautifully

You have your vision and you know what you want to create for your customers. You probably already have an idea of the business goals, values and brand. But turning that into an interior space can be challenging.

During this process we will discuss your vision, but we'll also look at...

...how do you want your customers to feel in your space?

and, how must the space function for you?

I really think your surroundings can have a huge impact on how you, and your customers, feel and act. That’s why I say, I’m not just an interior designer – I'm a mood maker.

You see, I can help you set the tone of your space. Creating atmosphere and giving it personality to

       inject a little wow!

CASE STUDY: Gala Theatre Cafe/Bar
and 3 other projects with Durham County Council

I was so thrilled to be invited to work with Durham County Council on a refresh of the Gala Theatre. To read a full case study please visit my blog post here. I continued to work with the team on the Killhope Mine café, a lovely little space that was in desperate need of a make over. We then moved on to the Bishop Auckland café/library space in the Town Hall, finishing with a facelift in the Empire café in Consett.

I carefully chose fabrics that would work across each setting, but with a different colourway in each - red in The Gala, gold in Bishop Auckland Town Hall, green in the Empire, and purple in Killhope. Arched shapes and circles were also a theme that followed throughout.

My client said, "Catherine took the time to understand all of our briefs and worked within our guidelines to produce some fantastic designs – from creating a brighter more welcoming space at Empire Consett, Bishop Auckland Town Hall and Killhope Museum to adding the much-needed character and atmosphere that the front of house areas at Gala Durham were lacking. Catherine has not only helped to create wow factor worthy individual designs which are in keeping with the venue's architecture and personality but has also considered how we link the buildings together through fabrics and furniture. We wouldn’t have been able to achieve the same impact without her help and would be more than happy to work with Catherine on future projects."

CASE STUDY: TAYOREDFIT PHYSIO

a converted chapel in County Durham

There’s nothing I like better than creating a space that people love to be in… somewhere that makes you feel-good. And with the skilled practitioners at TayloredFit Physio in Langley Park I knew this space needed to embody that feeling. The interior of this old chapel needed to be completely renovated so I worked with the architect, builder and owners to create a brand new space. A space that reflected the brand, felt calm and reassuring, and really does have an impact on how you feel as you enter.

My client said, "Catherine has been absolutely invaluable in helping us plan the interior of our commercial premises. She takes time to understand exactly what the brief is and expertly and professionally comes up with ideas and suggestions we’d not even considered or thought about. She also is able to source items that we would never have found ‘on the high street’. Thank you so much Catherine, we love working with you!"

CASE STUDY: Restaurant Cocktail Bar
in the heart of Richmond, North Yorkshire

This listed building right in the main square of Richmond was looking very sad indeed when my clients first invited me to visit. They wanted to create an experience that couldn't be found anywhere else in Richmond; a stylish, contemporary restaurant and cocktail bar. A place where people would enjoy date nights, nights out with friends, and of course, good food and drink. I was inspired by the beautiful wallpapers by Surfacephilia, a NE based artist, and the scheme led from there!

One of the best things about this project was how well the team worked together; from the architect, to the build team and the furniture suppliers. I loved visiting each week during the build and seeing the amazing progress.

CASE STUDY: A SELECTION OF STUDENT PROPERTIES ACROSS DURHAM

My client owns several student properties across Durham and we are working together to update them all. We have researched what has and hasn't worked well for students in the past to ensure the design works well for them. We have included details such as magnetic plastered walls to allow the students to decorate their own space. Each bedroom has fitted furniture and we work together with the kitchen company to design the kitchen to meet the current regulations.

My client says, "Catherine and I have worked together for several years now on my properties. She clearly sets out the stages and costs, and takes on board my comments. She does the design, all the purchasing and staging, and works really well with the team on site. She is very committed to getting our projects finished on time and making sure it is just right. I would recommend Catherine very highly."
